Instructions to make Dalma - Dal with veggies:
  1. Clean all the vegetables and cut all of them into small pieces. Keep the Potatoes medium sized
  2. Take 1/2 litre water in a cooker and place it on high flame. Put the potatoes and tomatoes into it and bring it to boil then add the lentils into it. Add the rest vegetables except brinjal and bring it to boil. Add the brinjals at the end
  3. Add the turmeric powder and some salt and cover it with a lid. After 1 whistle remove it and let the pressure release
  4. Roast the maslas - half of the cumin, asoefitida, 1 dry chilli and black peppers. Grind it into a fine powder and keep it aside
  5. Put a pan on the gas and put some oil. Once hot, add rest of the red chillies, cumin seeds, mustard seeds and the green chilli.
  6. Saute it a beat and add it to the boiled lentils and vegetables in the cooker. Put the cooker on low flame and add the shredded coconuts, and the masala powder made in step 4
  7. Once it boils remove from flame and add some ghee and coriander leaves. Your dalma is ready to be served with hot rice
